About

OUR MISSION

As part of a national body, our mission is to provide professional growth, leadership, and service for employees in education through a specifically-designed certification program, quality training, a network for sharing information and ideas, recognition of achievements, and fellowship.

OUR HISTORY

The Tri-City Association of Educational Secretaries was organized at the Holiday Inn in downtown Petersburg, Virginia, on October 26, 1967. Among the persons responsible for the establishment of the Association were Mrs. Olive T. Ritchie and Mrs. Joyce K. Smith, of the Richmond, Virginia School System; Mrs. Margaret Reese of the Chesterfield County School System; Mr. John D. Meade of the Petersburg School System; Mrs. Virginia Thomas of Prince George County School System; Drs. R. Charles Long, Edward Whitlow, Samuel Madden, and Miss Peggy E. Lee of Virginia State College (now Virginia State University).

Membership included secretaries from Petersburg, Colonial Heights, Hopewell, Prince George County and Virginia State University. There were forty-five charter members of the organization. Tri-City had as its first president Mrs. Virginia Thomas, Clerk of the Prince George County School Board.

From the beginning, TCAEOP has been affiliated with its parent organization – the Virginia Association of Educational Office Professionals (VAEOP) and the National Association of Educational Office Professionals (NAEOP).

OUR PURPOSE

The purpose of the Association is to:

a. To elevate the professional standards of the Association;
